„Painting is about energy, and it can reveal itself in this form as well.“

Attila Adorján, you are the most famous international painter in Hungary today. Which were the most impressive milestones on your journey?
First of all I would say I am one of the most famous international Hungarian painters. My very first encounter with painting as an art form was a pretty shocking one, as I was merely 5 or 6 years old and it was then when I realized that other people think in pictures, and it all had a tremendously mystical effect on me. A picture has always been the realm of secrets for me, which I want to take possession of. This was in the focal point of my studies. I did the best I could to find old as well as contemporary masters being able to let me in on the secrets, give me some sort of insights into this special field. Then, I became fully aware of the fact that it could be solved only in the  atelier, thus my whole artistic career is centered around this.

How come you are painting Top models? Are you living in a world of glamour and fame? Is it an esthetic thing?
It is the subject matter that chooses me. Top models have become important because of their visually descriptive sphere, per se. This provides the particular form making it possible for me to convey all those thoughts and feelings about the world. Human collective thoughts and forms can be rendered in this way, which I find extremely crucial. The environment enabling all this structured knowledge is aesthetic. Nevertheless if we attempt to dissect it, a very striking and impressive world emerges.

Explain us in some words the paintings you are viewing at Konrad Lifestyle.
I am displaying a totally new material at the exhibition, which can be divided into three parts. Firstly, well-known models will be presented, people telling tales of life. A sort of novel has been painted and it gave me a huge fun while working on it. The next part is the human environment, the garden, the house. It all has long been on my mind and now the time has come to show some of this. And finally there will be a new and secret painting, the beginning of the future. But let us keep this secret for the exhibition.

How did you meet Antoine Konrad, DJ Antoine – and what does your friendship mean to you?
Antoine met my works at an exhibition in Vienna, after it we met face to face. He has an exceptionally remarkable personality and has made quite an impression on me. It was good to feel the aura of positive power he beams. We are like-minded, we both speak about the same thing, only in different genre and language. This similarity might be the foundation of our friendship. In many cases the collectors of my artwork take in not only my pictures but also me myself and I. Maybe it is because of the common viewpoint that I have a close relationship with many of my collectors. Painting is about energy, and it can reveal itself in this form as well.
